PROGRAMME FOR VISITING STUDENTS
1. Russian language course
Duration: 10 months, 340 academic hours of class work
Academic value: 15 credits (9 credits for class work, 6 credits for independent study)
Frequency: 4 days per week
Class duration: 2 academic hours (45 min. x 2) per day.

A basic course (for beginners):
  • pronunciation,
  • reading and writing,
  • grammar,
  • basic vocabulary and the most necessary phrases
  • understanding spoken Russian
  • conversation strategy and techniques
  • study and conversation topics: greetings and similar expressions, terms of address, introductions, countries and languages, education, vocation, seasons and weather, health and health services, recreations and hobbies, literature, cinema, topics suggested by the students

An advanced course

An advanced course:

  • improving pronunciation
  • better understanding of Russian spoken at normal conversational rate
  • enhancing reading and writing skills
  • enhancing grammar skills
  • study and conversation topics chosen or suggested by the students

The tuition fee for per student in a small group (3 students) - 120.000 roubles for the 10 month complete course

Experienced and friendly teachers (PhD in linguistics, Master’s degree in foreign language teaching, extensive and prolonged experience of working with students from different parts of the world).
The working languages (instruction languages):
At the early weeks of the course - English, French, German, Italian.
Russian - increasingly from the later stages of the course (3rd week).

2. Russian conversation experience
(optional)
Academic value: 2 credits
Frequency: 1 day per week, 1 academic hour (45 min.) per day.
Time: a flexible timetable developed together and with consideration of the student’s convenience and preferences.
Experience of

  • understanding spoken Russian
  • conversing in Russian

Participated by at least 2 or more postgraduate students of the Department of Linguistics. It is part of their pedagogical practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The course is supervised by a qualified instructor (PhD in linguistics).
An enhanced group (1 foreign student, 2 Russian students).
The working languages (instruction language):
Russian and English

3. Participation in the “Practicum of cross-cultural communication” at the Department of Linguistics
(optional)

The practicum is part of the curriculum for the 4th year undergraduate students of the Department of linguistics.
Duration: 15 weeks, 72 academic hours (45 min.) of class and independent work
Academic value: 2 credits (17 hours of class work, 55 hours of independent preparation of presentations and discussions in class)
Frequency: 1 class per 2 weeks, 2 academic hours (45 min. x 2) per day.
Time: according to the timetable introduced by the University Administration from September 1, 2018.
A group of 12 students approximately.
Focus on cultural contrasts and similarities between the native country and Russia. Reflection of Russia’s multinational culture in the Russian language (specific words and expressions). Russian Education system and educational institutions. Basic terminology.
Other topics for discussion can be suggested.
The supervisor (PhD in linguistics) sets tasks for independent study and presentation, moderates presentations and mediates in discussions.

4. Extracurricular activities as part of the Russian Culture and Language Studies
Visiting students are encouraged (and assisted) to take part in the social life of the university and the City of Dubna, in amateur drama, singing, dancing, hobby activities, visiting museums and theatres, concerts and performances, guided trips to Moscow and other places of interest, visiting friends’ homes, attending current social events and ceremonies (family meals, weddings, parties and other celebrations).
