Research activity

Every year, Dubna State University participates in federal, targeted, industrial and regional research programs and hosts over 400 academic and research events. The University faculty participate in over 500 scientific conferences as speakers.

The University carries out its research activity in the priority fields of fundamental and applied science, which correspond to the priority directions of scientific, technical and social development of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Region.


According to the Russian Science Citation Index, Dubna State University ranks among the top twenty organizations in the Russian Federation. It also holds a place among the top three organizations of the Moscow Region, together with Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Institute for High Energy Physics (Protvino) and Institute for Nuclear Research of Russian Academy of Sciences (Troitsk). 

The data below reflects the positive dynamics of the main general indicators of the RSCI and the scientometric indicators. 
Dubna State University wins its ranking places with quality publications. During a five-year period (2012-2016), every author has submitted the average of 13 publications, each cited 5.34 times. 
The average number of citations per author is 70.3. The weighted average impact factor of the publishing journals is 1.605. The number of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Web of Science in 2016 is 186.1 per 100 faculty; for Scopus indexed journals, the number is 144.41. 
In 2016, students and postgraduate students have published over 300 articles and abstracts, some of which are featured in peer-reviewed scientific journals approved by Higher Attestation Commission.

Projects

Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is implementing the megascience-class NICA project in Dubna. JINR officially invited Dubna State University to become a member of the NICA project.

The University collaborates with JINR in the following activities:

• Geological and geophysical surveys for project preparation;

• Sharing of specialized cloud-based software;

• Research and development in the field of neutron detectors for the IBR-2 spectrometers at the FLNP JINR;

• Prototyping devices;

• Development of concepts, principles and implementation of electronic detectors.


Grants

The University’s grant projects, funded by the federal budget, encompass the following spheres: electric power engineering, photovoltaics, experimental chemistry, theoretical physics, applied problems of psychology and economics. These projects aim at organizing and conducting international conferences.

Dubna State University participates in international research programs, cooperating with scientific organizations from such countries as the Czech Republic, Egypt, South Africa, Mongolia, Germany, and others in the field of radiation biology, theoretical physics, chemistry, and sustainable innovative development.

The University faculty have received 26 federal-level grants (RFBR, RHSF, Ministry of Education and Science, RSF) and 5 entity-level grants. The works of paramount significance are carried out through grants provided by Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation, the Government of the Moscow Region, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. The funding of the University’s research and development in 2016 is 66,571,700 rubles, of which 60,895,000 rubles amount to 13 research grants.

The laboratory features a separate room for sample preparation. The laboratory contains modern analytical and auxiliary equipment for extensive and precise research.

Laboratory for Composite Material Testing

The laboratory is intended for testing of materials and products at different temperatures, climatic testing and determination of thermophysical characteristics of samples. The laboratory provides the following services: determination of mechanical characteristics of a standard sample in normal conditions; determination of mechanical characteristics of structures; determination of mechanical characteristics of a standard sample at temperatures from -100°C to +350°C; climatic testing of a sample; DSC analysis of polymers and composite materials; determination of the heat capacity of a sample.

The laboratory performs research and development, creates new materials, thin films and functional coatings, and assembles devices on their basis.
