Dubna State University is a modern university, well known both in Russia and abroad. It is a basic university of the Moscow region and the center of the city’s development. The university accumulates the intellectual potential of the region, influences its social life and forms innovative clusters.

The mission of Dubna State University is to develop the intellectual and socio-cultural potential of the country, to fulfill the needs of the individual, the society and the state by providing quality education, based on modern science and research and the unique opportunities of the science city and the special economic zone.

The university’s model of education is oriented towards the 3GU model:

• New forms of the organizational structure without inter-faculty barriers, to facilitate interdisciplinary research.
• Intertwining of university and industrial research programs.
• Use of international student mobility to attract the best students.
• Special educational programs for training the future intellectual elite.
• The university is an instrument of the knowledge-based economy.
• Alternative sources of financing through collaboration with technology-driven enterprises. Dubna houses a large number of such enterprises (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Special Economic Zone, Innovation Cluster of Nuclear Physics and Nanotechnologies, Medical and Technological Cluster of the Moscow Region, defense industry enterprises).

    Priority objectives: to attract talented students, faculty and researchers, to train sought-after specialists in a wide range of disciplines in order to make the Moscow region the leader in socio-economic development.

    Strategic objectives
    • To continue dynamic development as a classical research university, offering fundamental education in a wide range of specialties (from natural science to human science), to integrate education and research through strategic partnerships with scientific organizations and high-tech enterprises;
    • To enter the list of top 50 Russian universities, distinguished by the quality of education, research and innovation, before 2026;
    • To attract young and highly qualified specialists from Russia and abroad for participation in innovative projects;
    • To develop a system of grants for young professionals and researchers;
    • To promote internal research and provide priority levels of support for breakthrough projects at the startup stage;
    • To continue dynamic development of vocational guidance programs, to organize specialized scientific and technical classes as well as olympiads, competitions and scientific schools, to encourage the best students and faculty. To spark the interest of children and young people in the natural sciences and engineering specialties in Dubna and the Moscow Region;
    • To expand the list of specialties and educational programs in accordance with the needs of resident organizations of the special economic zone;
    • To become a basic institution of the Moscow region, providing educational programs in priority areas: energy efficient technologies, environmental management, electronics, rocket engineering, materials science, nuclear physics, information technologies;
    • To create a leading scientific, research, educational, methodical and consulting center in a wide range of sciences, that would become one of the world’s primary universities and make a significant theoretical and practical contribution to the innovative development and global competitive performance of the Moscow Region and Russia;
    • To create a united informational and educational space for continuing education in Dubna and the Moscow region, by connecting the university with the city’s schools, libraries, scientific centers and manufacturing enterprises;
    • To promote the university as a manufacturer of high-tech products by supporting the export of said products and organizing informational events;
    • To continue dynamic development as an innovative university, supporting a number of small commercial enterprises and helping the graduates to create their own companies;
    • To expand the resource base of the university, to train specialists for research and manufacturing complexes and the special economic zone, to improve the existing laboratories and create new ones;
    • To continue integration into the international educational space, to introduce at least seven educational programs taught in English, to increase the proportion of foreign students;
    • To continue supporting the innovation activity and the development of innovation infrastructure;
    • To improve the quality of university and city infrastructure, to ensure environmental safety, to provide opportunities for better use of the natural resources of the Moscow Region and to ensure transport accessibility;
    • To build temporary and permanent housing, a new dormitory for students, a sports town around the Olimp Sports Complex (stadium, courts);
    • To advance the program of general secondary education on the basis of 10-11 grades, to provide dormitories for talented pupils, to attract pupils from other regions of Russia.
